re: sorting anonymous works by title
Author:    Posted: Fri, 9 Dec 2005 11:29:17 -0500 (
Results of my exchanges with EndNote Support at Crandon (to whom many
thanks):
This was my problem: If I select "Use title in place of Author" in the
"Anonymous works" section of my output style, a reference with a blank
author should appear in alphabetical order of the title. It doesn't.
Anonymous (blank) authors appear at the top of the list.

After a response by Michael (thank you), suggesting a bug, I contacted
Support.
It turns out that (in all versions), if you insert the citation into a Word
document, then the sort order works, but if you export the references then
sort doesn't work. (Unless ALL the references being exported are anonymous,
in which case it does work.)

Unfortunately I have about 450 references to export or insert from a 20,000
strong library, so I come up against the "no more than 50 references"
problem, which was why I wanted to export them.
However, since I have about 70 anonymous references to include, 9 or 10
sets of "insert 50 references" is probably quickly than 70 manual sorting
operations in Word.

I think this is indeed a bug, in that the sorting defined for the
bibliography is the sorting used for exporting for all cases except mixed
authored and anonymous records. I hope that it will be fixed in a new
version.
