I have had the same problem using Endnote 9 for Mac. I add a PDF to the
image field but cannot delete it. If I select the image field and press delete the
thumbnail disappears, but when I open the reference up again it reappears and
still connects to the PDF file. I contacted Endnote tech support but they basically
said that they knew about the problem but didn't have a fix it.
You should be able to overwrite the PDF file by putting another PDF file into the
image field or you can delete the whole reference and re-enter it into Endnote.

Here's my problem:
I carefully followed the directions in an old posting (April 2004) for
how to add pdf files in the image section of an Endnote reference. I
accidentally put the wrong one in and I can't figure out how to delete
it! Can anyone help me out? (I'm using Endnote 7 for PC)
