In my endnote 7/wordxp, once the preferences have been modified, and for
a new document, the label is inserted if there are labels, but the
record number is inserted, if the label field is empty. I just tested
on an old paper, and it seemed to work there too....If it doesn't work,
it maybe another Endnote8 bug?

Hello,
One aspect that Endnote and Word take care of nicely is the automatic
generation of bibliographies from a single database (library), until of
course you want to share the library with other collaborators or even
with
yourself on another computer.
I am intrigued by a previous post to this list about the use of labels
instead of record numbers for temporary citations. However, I can't
seem
to get MS Word to automatically insert this label in the temporary
citation, despite setting the Temporary Citation Preferences in Endnote
to
do so. Rather, it continues to automatically insert the record number,
leading to problems down the road.
Has anyone made a workaround like this work?
Thanks,
