rogue question marks

Dear All,
I have had a query from an academic using EN4 with problem that involves
question marks appearing prior to page nos. This comes up both in the EN
'show preview' option and when they are actually inserted into a document.
They can go through and individually edit the document but this is very
tedious and next time she uses the library it will probably do the same
thing. It seems to be happening across different styles. Has anyone come
across this problem before?

Some fonts may substitute question marks for unknown characters. You may
want to check for unstandard character in the styles (including characters
that look like special Endnote formatting characters such as ^ but haven't
been typed in correctly in the style). For diagnostic purposes you may also
want to temprarily change the display font.
