French libraries seem to be reluctant to embrace the Z39.50 protocol. There is a list of "Profils Z39.50" on the web at: http://www.enssib.fr/bibliotheque/autres/bibfranc/z3950.html It lists very few institutions. Of course, it may not be complete or up-to-date. As far as I know, there is no Z39.50 access to the catalogue of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. However you can search the web version of their catalogue and download records in a format which can be imported reasonably well into EndNote.
