I am running Vista, word 2007 and endnote X1.
When I try to change the Endnote output bibliography templates, it wont
allow me to save the changes in endnote?
Any ideas on why?
Thanks,
Jo

That suggests they are on a write protected drive. Try saving
elsewhere, and then you must change your folder location preferences, to
that folder.

Maybe you don't have authority to write to the directory where the
templates (styles?) are.

Hi Jo,
I've run into this problem before with students at our University. The issue is that Vista will not allow changes to anything in the Program Files part of the hard drive. Given that this is where Endnote and your styles fit, this can be a problem.
What you need to do is find your Styles folder and copy it to the Documents area of the hard drive.
Then go into Endnote X1, select Edit/Preferences/Folder locations.
Change the style folder selected option to the new Styles Folder in your Documents area, and click on OK.
You should now be able to change your output styles as needed.
I hope that helps,

Which is exactly why I want the list to continue and will not be happy with an RSS feed replacement: using e-mail, there's no need to go anywhere to reply. I'm already where I need to be.
Once again, the solution as I see it: a mailing list + a forum, with a bi-directional gateway in between. Everybody wins.
