RE: Request for help with CWYW and output styles in Endnote X
Author: Leanne    Posted: Wed, 23 Apr 2008 19:28:52 -0400
Look at the current library she is using to see if there are terms in the Journal terms list. I suspect that the old references are being pulled from the attached "travelling library" and not the current library (since the endnote record numbers would be different) and that the new references are being pulled from the new library which doesn't have a terms list, or only has a terms list constructed from the new references (and if it is a pubmed download) would be the opposite of what you expect -- so look at the terms list and if it is incomplete or mixed, delete it and import a terms list from John East's site or from those supplied by Endnote in the "terms list" folder.

The other trick is to unformat and reformat the document, so that all the references are being pulled from the library and none from the travelling library (which is invisible and attached to the document). -- however they may then be prompted to insert each of the old references manually, because the record numbers don't match. Now all the references will be pulled from the new library (with a new correct journal terms list incorporated in it) and they all should be correctly (or at least consistantly) formatted.

Subject: Request for help with CWYW and output styles in Endnote X

Dear colleagues,

One of our students reported the following error which we couldn't solve out:

Here is the full story!
She has exported to her old library (which had already references) the references she had in a word document (using Export travelling library command).
She had previously changed her output style in Endnote to show the journals in an abbreviated form That style is correctly applied in Endnote preview (all references - old and new - have the journals in an abbreviated form) That style is not correctly applied in MS Word CWYW (the old references appear with the journal in an abbreviated form; the new ones, don't) She is using Windows XP and Office 93 with Endnote X.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!
