I've created a customized style filter but cannot for the life of me get it
to recognize single/plural constructions.
For example, the setting for an edited book is:
Editor, ed.^eds. (Year). Title|. Edition ed|. Publisher|, City.
(There's a non-breaking space between "Editor," and "ed.^eds.")
No matter what I try, it still prints "ed.^eds." or "p^pp^ in the formatted
bibliography.
Any advice?
I'm using Endnote 5.0 (with the CWYW 5.0.2. updates) on a Mac.
Cheers,
Madeline

Ruchard's suggestion was:
>
> ... to lobby publishers to have only 2 styles (with and without
titles).
> The small cost in independence would be made up for in convenience for
> everybody
I always say to my students when I run EndNote courses, "With so many
thousands of styles available, and insisted on by different publishers,
it makes you realise just what little hope there is of ever negotiating
world peace..."

| Problems with styles in EndNote X1 on Mac |

Has anyone encounter problems with styles in EndNote X1. I received a
support call from one of my users about this today. She has prepared a
paper, but when she formats the bibliography (using the style
Nature) the journal name, volume, pages etc are missing. She's using a
brand new Mac (OS 10.5.2).
The data is her library, so I check the style using Style Manager and
found that all the missing data field labels were replaced by an
underscore character. I tried editing the style to reinsert the missing
fields, but all you get when you've used Insert fields is the underscore
character again. I also tried creating a copy of the style with a
different name - in case the original was write protected in some way,
but this does exactly the same. Any ideas from the Mac gurus out there
gratefully received.
I also attempted to look at Endnote.com for any known issues or an
update style, but the website appears to be down at mo.

| Request for help with CWYW and output styles in Endnote X |

Dear colleagues,
One of our students reported the following error which we couldn't solve out:
Here is the full story!
She has exported to her old library (which had already references) the references she had in a word document (using Export travelling library command).
She had previously changed her output style in Endnote to show the journals in an abbreviated form
That style is correctly applied in Endnote preview (all references - old and new - have the journals in an abbreviated form)
That style is not correctly applied in MS Word CWYW (the old references appear with the journal in an abbreviated form; the new ones, don't)
She is using Windows XP and Office 93 with Endnote X.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!
