Endnote & WORD Long Document instructions

I'm looking for detailed instructions that we can use to show our students how to use Endnote and WORD Long Document together. I'd appreciate any detailed instructions as most of the sites I've visited often only have a short section on using Endnote and Long Document.
The 2 things I'd like to find out are:
1. If I turn off the CWYW, the references are in a subdocument at the end of the Long Document. I don't like showing students how to edit their in-text citations in case they mess up the Endnote coding. Is there a way around this?
2. The references in my subdocument at the end of the Long Document can't be formatted to display with hanging indentation or with 12 points spacing to separate each reference even though I've chosed the APA 5th output style.
Thanks

I am not sure that I follow what you are saying here. Are you saying
that you are generating the reference list into a subdocument. If
citations are in a subdocument, there is no problem generating the
reference list into the master document later. I do this effectively all
the time and the formatting is correct. I always work with CWYW turned
off for master/outline documents.
If you mean that the reference list is generated into a subdocument, I
have never tried it that way. Partly, I am not sure why you would want
to do it that way round especially since with CWYW turned off there is
no reference list until you ask for it to be formatted.
