Astrophysics Data System configuration
Author: Keithgrogan    Posted: Fri, 30 Apr 2004 20:32:35 +0000
Has anyone configured Endnote to interface directly with the NASA
Astrophysics Data System (ADS) online database, X39.50 protocol? They have a
config page here:
http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs_doc/ads_server.html

Following the instructions I can connect to the database and Endnote
retrieves records, but they are not actually imported properly, and the
'search results' tab remains blank and disappears after a few seconds. I
guess I need to configure a new import filter (or whatever - new user here)
but before I spend the time I wanted to see if one was floating around
already. Until I do this I'm just downloading lists of references as text
files and importing them in a 2-step process.

Thanks
Keith Grogan

You can download connection files from our website at:
http://www.library.uq.edu.au/endnote/connect.html#A

The ADS Z39.50 server seems to be available very intermittently at the
moment, possibly because of the Sasser Worm. If the server rejects your
connection attempt, try again later.
